4th of July

After we arrived home from camping, we cleaned up and went to a barbeque with another group of friends and went to the fireworks afterwards. Each of the children wanted a "light up stick," even Ryan, and it was fun to watch them play with their different toys in the dark. We had a blast!

Camping Trip

We went camping with our friends over the 4th of July weekend and had a blast playing in the woods, roasting marshmellows, hiking, cooking in the dutch ovens, working on puzzles, and visiting.

Screaming at the Mall

Today I took Bekah and Ryan to the mall to do some shopping. Bekah's new favorite store is Victoria's Secret because everything to sit on is pink. I don't think I will be taking her to that part of the mall again for a while. During the shopping trip Bekah kept telling me, "You have to buy me something so I will be good" to which I would respond, "No, you are going to be good or you will lose privileges" and the conversation was repeated several times.  Then when we got done with my shopping Bekah had a major meltdown that resulted in screaming at the top of her lungs. I looked at her, looked at the other shoppers, and apologized, but continued to stand next to her until she was done and proceeded to tell her we were done shopping and were now leaving the mall.

She continued her sassiness all the way home and when I told her to go take a nap she decided to go play in her brothers' room instead. So I made her come lay down on the couch where she told me she was not going to go to sleep without music. I told her she wasn't going to sleep because her mouth was moving. Sure enough, when she finally stopped talking and sassing she fell asleep. Now she is down for the count, guess most of her behavior was because of tiredness.

Don't know how I managed not to totally lose it with her constant chatter and sassiness, but this time it wasn't accompanied by running away or throwing her body around so maybe that made the difference. Either way, I thought the whole experience was funny and I managed to keep myself calm and logical while this was all going on.

Hiking El Morro

While we were down for Mareesa's wedding, Michael and I were able to go on a date to El Morro National Monument. It was my first time hiking it and there was a lot of pretty scenery for the desert that it is. Because we were on a real date (no kiddos), I was able to work on my macro (up close) photography skills. We had a lot of fun.
