Laundry Day

Today Benjamin asked if tomorrow was "laundry day," and then groaned loudly when I told him I already did it today. When I asked what the drama was about I discovered he was disappointed that he hasn't been able to help with the laundry for the last few weeks because of his school schedule. So I asked him if he would like to help with the laundry and he grinned and said, "Yes." Tonight he helped bring baskets of clean laundry up from the laundry room and then sat and folded towels because he missed helping with the laundry.

I love finding out parts of our household routine that are important to him. It makes trying to maintain and develop a routine worth all of the opposition I receive from intelligent and strong-willed children.
